IMPORTANT NOMINATION INFORMATION – READ THIS
In accordance with the Toquaht Nation Government Elections Act (TNS 1/2014) there are a number of provisions that MUST be satisfied in order for a nomination and candidate qualifications to be approved by the Electoral Officer. Be sure to consult the appropriate sections the Election Act and/or contact the Electoral Officer for more information.
Any Elector eighteen (18) years or older as of Voting Day may nominate or second or be nominated at the Nomination Meeting.
A nomination may be made by Nomination Declaration Form properly completed, signed, witnessed and submitted to the Electoral Officer prior to the start of the Nomination Meeting or in person at the Nomination Meeting.
Please Note – only Nominees properly seconded at the Nomination Meeting will stand.
An Elector may nominate or second no more than 1 eligible nominee for the same elected office in an election.
All nominees are reminded that they must submit a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 when they submit their necessary nomination documents to the Electoral Officer.
Electors are reminded that additional limitations and requirements are provided for in the Toquaht Nation Government Elections Act (TNS 1/2014) and shall need to be completed to the satisfaction of the Electoral Officer in order for their name to be registered on the Official Ballot.
